While there is still a long way to go before we are through the Covid-19 crisis, the easing of lockdown restrictions in May marks the start of the next phase of the crisis for businesses.
Hotel owners and operators across the Middle East must quickly implement new strategies in order to rebuild revenue streams disrupted by the pandemic, while at the same time adapting their operations to the changed market conditions.
On 20 May at 11 am -12 pm (UAE Time), a special webinar dedicated to the hospitality sector in the UAE – hosted by Mashreq and MEED, together with a panel of senior industry figures – will examine the impact Covid-19 has had on the Gulf hospitality sector and look at how the industry must respond to the road ahead.
Covid-19 pain points
The Covid-19 crisis could not have come at a more difficult time for many hoteliers in the UAE.
Already facing significant challenges of oversupply, increased competition, and high costs of operating, taxes and fees, the Covid-19 lockdown measures introduced to combat the spread of the virus have cut bookings and severely disrupted revenue streams and raised questions about business survival for some businesses in the hospitality sector.
And throughout, with staff and customer safety as the highest priority, hoteliers still faced high costs and outgoings for rent, salaries and inventory procurement.
Featuring thought leaders from the Gulf hospitality sector, The way ahead for Gulf hospitality is the first in the Mashreq Real Estate and Hospitality Forum Connect Series and will examine the pain points facing hotels in the UAE, as well as the steps that can be taken to sustain the industry through the crisis and prepare for what comes next.
The way ahead
The disruption caused by Covid-19 also provides an opportunity to address many deep-running challenges.
This special webinar focused on the UAE hospitality sector will examine the lessons from the Covid-19 crisis, and discuss what comes next, and what steps can be taken to recover quickly from the crisis while at the same time positioning for sustainable growth in the post-Covid world.
